lilac hair

One of my secret dreams for the longest time was having lilac hair or highlights. Purple shades have always been among my favourite colours, and fit my personality no matter what phase I was going through.

With my style, I’ve had a lot of transitions with a big imprint colour vise. I get obsessed with a certain colour over a period of time, with some lasting longer than others. Last year I literally wanted to buy everything in mustard yellow. I’m glad I restrained myself to only a few key pieces, because I’m a bit over it now.

But there are always certain colours that we keep coming back to and gravitate towards. I think that tells a lot about a person. When I get to know new people, asking about their favourite colour is one of my first questions.

I even personalise conversations on my phone to colours I think suit the personality of my friends. Anyway, to stay on point… I’ve decided to colour my hair for the first time in quite a few years, as a little birthday gift to myself.

Lastly, I just wanted to encourage you to chase those little lifetime dreams that you normally push into the back of your mind, and do something nice and a little crazy for yourself. Either it’s lilac hair or the weirdest shoes… whatever makes you feel special. Be the wacky alien space creature and just don’t be afraid to be weird. Us weird people have the most fun ;).

I knew I didn’t want to colour my whole head because let’s face it, ain’t nobody got time to take care of roots! So there were two options left, either a baliage or an ombre. My hairdresser and I, decided that a baliage would look best and we went for it.

I have to tell you that I am definitely not used to spending over 3 hours at a salon. However, I am sooo pleased with the outcome! I love it. Sadly these colours wash out quite fast, but I will keep retouching and refreshing the lilac myself. It’s really easy since these colours only stick to bleached hair.
